Celebration of the Gallic the most courageous 60th anniversary.
Coin dedicated to the launch of the new comic : “La Fille de Vercingetorix”. The drawing was released the 24th of October! The new Asterix comic launched the 24th september is named «La Fille de Vercingetorix». The new comic’s title is written on top of the obverse. It retakes the famous typography of the Asterix comics. The reverse is the same for all the youth collection. It shows Asterix getting out because of an explosion taken from a comic. The famous character seems have taken magic potion and looks like determined, ready to fight against Romans. On the top of the coin, we can find the “60e anniversaire” mention. The yeardate and the face value are on the right. The Asterix copyright is viewable at the bottom of the coin.

Greece 6 Euro silver coin “50 years since the first man on the moon”

Conquering the moon was one of man’s oldest dreams, from Lucian to Jules Verne. On 20 July 1969, the United States space mission Apollo 11 is crowned with success, achieving the goal set by President Kennedy in 1961. The lunar module Eagle, with Neil Armstrong and Edwin “Buzz” Aldrin aboard, lands on the moon, while Michael Collins remains in orbit on command module Columbia. Armstrong is the first to step out onto the lunar surface, taking “one small step for a man, a giant leap for mankind”, as he famously uttered. The astronauts collected lunar material and planted the American flag and a plaque that read “Here men from the planet Earth first set foot upon the moon. July 1969 A.D. We came in peace for all mankind”. The three astronauts returned to Earth on 24 July 1969.

The obverse of the coin is inspired by Lucian’s description of the view of the earth from the moon which is written on the reverse of the coin.

Paris city of lights. Tribute to the most beautiful buildings of the capital. In 2019, the Paris’ Treasures series highlights Paris, the City of lights, with the light beam of the Eiffel Tower.          The obverse shows an aerial view by night of the Eiffel Tower. This plunging view alllows the light beam to spread out on Paris and keep an eye on its inhabitants. In 2019, it is the 130th anniversary of the Eiffel Tower. This date and the « RF » mention are highlighted in the Seine River.

The reverse is the common one of the Paris’ Treasures series. We see a contemporary view of the Paris map and also its districts represented by little pyramids. The gold deposit and the rhodium on coins allow to beautify the details on parisian monuments. Here, it is the famous Eiffel Tower headlight which is highlighted thanks to its benevolence for the city of Paris. Through the woman iron, Paris city of lights is magnified.

Greece has a rich tradition in mathematics since
antiquity, with such figures as Thales, Pythagoras, Euclid and Archimedes. By decision of the Ministry of Education, 2018 has been declared Year of Mathematics to celebrate the centennial of the Hellenic Mathematical Society (HMS). Founded in 1918 in Athens with the mission of promoting the discipline and continuously improving mathematical education, the HMS today counts more than 15,000 members and 34 regional branches, with a notable contribution to the advancement of science and culture. To achieve its mission, the HMS conducts a range of activities, such as the organisation of training programmes, the annual national conference on mathematical education and three annual national mathematical competitions, the winners of which form the national team that represents Greece in the Balkan and International Mathematical Olympiads. The HMS also publishes a number of journals, as well as selected mathematical books by Greek and foreign authors.

Aphrodite of Milos, better known as the Venus de Milo, is an ancient Greek statue and one of the most famous works of ancient Greek sculpture. Created sometime between 130 and 100 BC, the statue is believed to depict Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of love and beauty (Venus to the Romans). It is a marble sculpture, slightly larger than life size at 203 cm (6 ft 8 in) high. Part of an arm and the original plinth were lost following its discovery. From an inscription that was on its plinth, the statue is thought to be the work of Alexandros of Antioch; earlier, it was mistakenly attributed to the master sculptor Praxiteles. It is currently on permanent display at the Louvre Museum in Paris. The statue is named after the Greek island of Milos, where it was discovered.
