An irrefutable masterpiece of Gothic art, Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris receives more than 13 million visitors a year from around the world. This extraordinary building, with foundations that date back to 1163, has been registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In 2013, to celebrate the 850th anniversary of its construction, the cathedral will receive a new set of bells including a bourdon. Luigi Pirandello (1867 – 1936) was an Italian dramatist, novelist, poet and short story writer. Awarded the 1934 Nobel Prize in Literature for his “bold and brilliant renovation of the drama and the stage”. Pirandello’s works include novels, hundreds of short stories, and about 40 plays, some of which are written in Sicilian.
