Mykonos is a Greek island, part of the Cyclades, also known nowadays as the Island of the Winds. Historically it has been inhabited by Carians, followed by Ancient Egyptians, Phoenicians, Cretans and Ionians. In ancient times, Mykonos, due to its proximity to the then highly populated island of Delos, became very important as a supply island and possibly as a getaway location for Delian citizens. France – 2 Euro, Pierre de Coubertin, 2013

The French 2 Euro commemorative coin 2013 to mark the 150th anniversary of the birth of Pierre de Coubertin (1863-1937). Pierre de Coubertin is mainly famous for founding the modern Olympic Games. These worldwide sporting events are the occasion for athletes of participating countries to compete in a spirit of peace and for the honour of sport. The obverse of the coin features a portrait of a young Pierre de Coubertin. In the background, stylised Olympic rings frame silhouettes that symbolise some Olympic sport.

Issue of the 2013 collector set of Cyprus euro coins

The Central Bank of Cyprus has recently announced the issue of a set of Cyprus euro coins in brilliant uncirculated condition and mint year 2013.
It will be the fourth in the series of Cyprus euro coin sets dedicated to the mosaics of Paphos, which are included in UNESCO’s World Heritage List.
